Reiki is a form of hand application for healing, with its origins in India and the Orient dating back thousands of years BC. The original name, disciplines and techniques of Reiki have been lost due to the traditional method of passing on knowledge from generation to generation by “word of mouth”. It’s difficult to determine exactly when this ancient healing art disappeared. However, we do know that it was rediscovered by a Japanese scholar and monk by the name of Mikao Usui; a scholar who shaped the name REIKI.
Reiki is a two-syllable Japanese word meaning universal life force or universal energy.
Rei means universal or universal energy; omnipresent – present everywhere at once.
Rei means spiritual awareness, the all-knowing wisdom of God or the higher self.
Ki is the non-physical vitality that gives life to all living beings. Many cultures understand and recognize the importance of Ki energy and its impact on our lives and well-being. It is our universal vital energy.
Ki is also called CHI in Chinese, LIGHT by Christians, PRANA by Hindus, BIOPLASMA by Russians and BIOENERGY by scientists.
Reiki strengthens the body and mind, restores harmony and spiritual well-being, balances the flow of energy in the body, removes blockages and cleanses the body of poisons and toxins.
Ki energy can be activated for healing purposes. When you feel healthy and full of enthusiasm, the flow of Ki energy in your body is high and unencumbered. Life seems easier to bear and you have greater resistance to illness.
However, when your Ki energy is low, perhaps because you’re stressed or feeling unhappy or tired, you’ll be more susceptible to discomfort and illness. Your attitude will generally be negative, and it will be more difficult for you to face life’s challenges. Ki is the very essence of the soul; it leaves the body when a person dies.
Reiki is holistic in that it works on the body and mind by stimulating a person’s own natural healing abilities. Blocked emotional and physical elements that lead to illness are erased. Reiki is neither positive nor negative; it is in fact the highest, deepest vibration of life.
Of divine origin, it enables us all to become one with all living things in our world. Reiki is pure unconditional love and joy, bringing Love and Serenity to all who know it and put its principles into harmony.
The skills and techniques associated with Reiki are simple and easy to learn. Small children and adults alike can understand and integrate this ancient form of healing into their lives. Regular contact with Reiki will bring balance to the practitioner’s body and mind.
